Back to Back

I had a great 9 mile run on Saturday, but have spent the last 2 days moping around with a nasty cold. I feel so stuffy I can’t even hear right. Boo.

I have yet to change out of my pajamas and it’s 6:30 PM.

I’m not sure if it was a fit of cold medication-induced delusion or not, but somehow I ended up signing up for another half marathon the week after running in the Great Race of Agoura Pacific Half.

Groupon had a great deal for the Compete Green Ventura Harbor Half on April 1 – 2 entries for $59. My Dad purchased the deal and I scored the second entry. The Groupon deal sold out but I think registration is still open. It looks like a super small race, but it’s pancake flat so I’m looking forward to it. If the Agoura sub-2:10 goal is a total fail, which I hope it won’t be, I will only have to wait a week to try again.

Heidi has offered to be my pacer if I pay her in bones and steak. Unfortunately, her strategy is to sprint for 6 minutes then walk the rest of the way while loudly panting and peeing ever 4 feet. Sorry Dingo, I don’t think it’s going to work out for us.

Now I’m off to eat some hot soup and watch The Voice. Anyone else hooked? I love how Cee Lo holds his cat while being interviewed. He is sooo odd!

Christmas Catch-Up

My brain is so fried lately. I stuttered so badly at the gym today that Jason was able to visually observe my mental lapse without being able to hear me over his headphones. He actually pulled them out and looked at me and said “Did you just stutter? Like hardcore stutter?”

Yesterday morning I also forgot to put the coffee pot back under the coffee maker and I brewed a pot of coffee onto the countertop (thanks for cleaning it up Mom!).

Since my brain just doesn’t want to function, I figured I would just share some pictures from our Christmas weekend. Enjoy!

Maddi and I organized a family Christmas Edition of Minute to Win It. We had my poor Grandma do the cookie on the face thing where you have to get it from  your forehead to your mouth without using your hands and she got cookie crumbs in here eyes. We didn’t think that one through…

Doesn’t it look like the rooster is landing on Alli’s head?

How cute are the stockings from my grandparents?

Our tree on Christmas morning

The baby of the family was so excited to open her gift.

Grandad & Grandma

Nikki DID NOT like the dancing Santa Duck.

And the best picture of the whole weekend… I walked outside on Christmas night to find Jason cheating on me with his new girlfriend:

I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas/Happy Hanukkah/Fantastic Festivus! Can you believe we are just a few days away from 2012?

Earthquake Weather

I know there is no correlation between the weather and the chance of an earthquake, but I swear this feels like earthquake weather.

I’m kind of mad at myself. I was supposed to get up and run 6 miles this morning, but I slept through my stupid alarm and ended up only doing my typical 4 miles. It was majorly muggy this morning and I was like I was breathing in swamp air at times. Unless it’s a legit rainstorm, I don’t do humidity. No thanks.

Bright red and sweaty. Mmmm.

My ankle hasn’t been bugging me nearly as much but I’ve been trying my best to be diligent about icing and stretching.

If only someone was home to make and bring me some coffee right now. My family is up at Mt. Sac for the high school XC super-big-deal race and J is off doing grown up man things that are way out of my range of comprehension. Too bad Heidi is useless.

This is an old picture but her lack of thumbs and inability to help me with my caffiene mix is making her a bad dog. That, and I just watched her figure out a way to roll around on the ground so that the Cone of Shame pops right off.

One good thing about today’s run is that I got to wear my new Road ID for the first time and it was absolutely useless as nothing bad happened to me. I normally don’t like wasting money, but I sure won’t be disappointed if this thing never needs to be looked at, but it is cute in purple!
